ABOUT DIAMOND BASEBALL ACADEMY

Diamond Baseball Academy provides a comprehensive approach to preparing young baseball players for their journey towards high school baseball and beyond.

The DBA teams will have a structured practice regimen, a coaching staff experienced in player development, and participation in competitive tournaments that expose players to varying levels of competition.

Off-field aspects such as teamwork, discipline, and strength and conditioning will be emphasized to ensure holistic player development.

OUR COACHES

FOUNDER & LEAD COACH

David Trujillo

Before his coaching career, Trujillo played professional baseball from 2002-2005, for both the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League and the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League, where he was named Nextel MVP in 2004. He holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from UNLV, and was named NCAA Div.

HEAD COACH: WHITE TEAM

Matt Wristen

Wristen played 4 years of American Legion baseball, college ball and semi-pro before hanging up his cleats and is now doing what he loves most by passing along his skill and knowledge to other youth and learning not only baseball, but life lessons with in the game.

Daniel Hickers

Currently the Director of Sports Performance for Menlo School, Coach Hicker has over 20 years of experience in collegiate and professional settings including MLS, NHL, NCAA Division I, US Soccer, and The Air National Guard. Throughout his coaching journey, Hicker has been committed to engineering and delivering high-performance strategies to foster competitive and nurturing training environments. His attention to the alignment of long-term athletic development and innovative practices is highlighted by his extensive experience with Force Plates, Velocity-Based Training, GPS, heart rate monitoring, and motion capture systems. Hicker has also paralleled his time in sports performance as a sports coach further understanding the dynamics of team sport, culture development, athlete management, and profiling. ASSISTANT COACH

Bobby Chu, PhD

Bobby played at the City College of San Francisco, where he started behind the dish and earned All-Conference Teams both years he played. Bobby then transferred to the University of Minnesota Crookston where he also started behind the dish. He was instrumental in making the University of Minnesota Crookston a top-three conference team. Bobby graduated from the City College of San Francisco with an Associate of Science Degree in Mathematics and Science with high honors and later graduated from the University of Minnesota Crookston, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and a minor in coaching with distinguished honors from the University of Minnesota Crookston. He went on to the University of Pacific to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. During his time in Physical Therapy school, he participated in an internship with the Minnesota Twins. In this internship, he worked extensively with professional baseball players battling back from arm injuries. Bobby has been a Hitting and Catching Instructor for 8 years, an Assistant Coach for 5 years under Dave Trujillo, and a Strength Coach for 4 years.
